Fulton-Montgomery Community College Entertainment Technology Associates Degree Program
The School of the Performing Arts at Proctors is honored to announce a new collaboration with Fulton-Montgomery Community College and Capital Region BOCES in a multi faceted new degree program aimed at students considering a career in the ever-growing entertainment industry.
Developed with input from Proctors and Capital Region BOCES, the associate degree in Entertainment Technology will, “provide students with the necessary skills, knowledge and competence to successfully enter a variety of different careers in the planning, design and production of entertainment, including: live performance technology, audio/visual technology and interactive entertainment technology.”
In addition to electives, the Entertainment Technology (A.A.S.) will focus on core studies in a wide variety of related disciplines, including digital photography; modern design; stagecraft; audio production; project management; digital TV/broadcast operations; and digital modeling.
This collaboration will also provide area high school students with a direct pathway to a college level program. Starting in the fall, juniors and seniors can take the Entertainment Technology program through Capital Region BOCES. The senior year will take place at Proctors, allowing for hands on training in a professional theatre, and students can earn up to 15 college credits at FMCC while still in high school. As the senior location for this program, the School of the Performing Arts at Proctors will play a leading role in providing high school seniors the tools they need to succeed in this innovative program, as well as the necessary resources to pursue their dream of a career in this growing industry.
