High School Musical Theatre Awards

7 p.m. Saturday May 15, 2021

In partnership with the Broadway League, Proctors is proud to announce its fifth year of the High School Musical Theatre Awards. Fashioned after Broadway’s Tony Awards®, this celebration of regional high school theatre programs brings collaboration and the importance of arts and theatre education to the forefront!

While live theatre is currently experiencing an intermission, we continue to celebrate the amazing talent and students in the region. The awards and rules have changed for this year only to an audition-based program for Best Actress and Best Actor and the ceremony will be virtual. None the less, winners of the Best Actor and Best Actress category will represent Proctors and the Capital Region at the virtual The Jimmy Awards® / National High School Theatre Awards® in June 2021.

School applications are being accepted between January 11–22, 2021. The first thirty (30) schools who apply will be accepted.

This year only! Students grade 9-12 whose schools are not involved can apply to be considered for Best Actor or Best Actress. A limited number of spots are available for individuals, applications open January 25 – February 5, 2021.

Our students had such a rich experience being a part of the program. They all came back really seeing the potential and wanting to up their own game. A director’s dream!”
